I am happy to finally get the first copy of my newsletter out to you.  We had the convention in April and we held our first board meeting in June.  Connie, with the help of the Gulfport auxiliary and a few others, gave us many good memories of the conference to bring home with us.   I am going to give you a list of our officers, directors, and appointees in this newsletter.  Our first board meeting was held on June 23rd at Meridian Air Guard Base with Connie and Ricky Myers as our hosts.  They had everything set up and ready when we got there.  We missed those of you who were unable to come.  We did have a quorum present and were able to conduct business.  Connie and Ricky prepared a wonderful meal and Paulette Lafferty helped with some mouth-watering desserts.  I want to remind you that our year is quickly dwindling away and we need all of you who have not renewed for 2008 to do so as soon as possible.  We could all take a lesson from Connie and Vivian.  They are always prepared with copies of the membership form and take every opportunity to offer membership to our Guard family.  Don’t leave it up to the directors to solicit new members.  You have friends and need to tell them what a great group we are and what we are here for.  You can, also, help the NCO Association, by reminding them that it is time for their dues for 2008 to be paid.  This is so important to all of us because the more members we have on record, the more attention we can get from those who make the decisions about policies that affect our National Guard soldiers and their families.  These include, access to our Commissaries, Tri-Care, Family Support requirements for those families who have loved ones overseas or away from home for any reason associated with our Guard Member’s duties.  I will get off my soap box now.  I want you to know what a privilege it is to be your president.  If you need me or have a question, please see my access information in the list of officers.
