NCO Association of Mississippi

The Mississippi National Guard NCO Association is beginning its annual drive for membership. It is more important then ever that every Soldier and Airman join their professional organization that is working harder than ever to maintain tlie hard earned benefits that we have achieved throughout the years. There have been many successes with our State Legislature over the years in our attempt to assist the Guardsman as they progress as a member of the Mississippi National Guard. The Tuition Assistance Program as well as the National Guard Car Tag are just two of our achievements. This year we got the income tax deduction increased from $5,000 to $15,000. This was very big for all of you. Each year the state's two professional associations, NGAM and your Association join together to present to our legislature a list of proposals that we would like to see funded for the coming year. The list includes funding for new Armorys as well as other projects that would benefit all members of the Mississippi National Guard. The Mississippi National Guard NCO Association has more members than any other state in the nation. Because of this Mississippi has become an important part of our national association, EANGUS. Through EANGUS we stay on top of the issues that effect the National Guard. We are constantly striving to improve our units with new equipment through our lobbying efforts through EANGUS as well as maintain contact with our states elected officials. We also have the strong support of your Association's Auxiliary. There are hundreds of letters written to congressmen by your Auxiliary in your behalf each year in their efforts to support the National Guard. Your Association is working for you. The members of the House of Representatives and tlie Senate ask this question, "How many members do you represent"? This makes a difference in achieving our goals. Membership counts. Please make any corrections on your 2007 membership rosters such as addresses and rank changes. This our only way to maintaining current information on our membership. Should an address of a unit member change throughout the year, please let us know. Enter spouses name on the sheet. New or additional members may be added to the MSNGNCO Form #5 sent to you. Members applying for a scholarship for their dependents must have their dues paid NLT 3 1 Dec 2006. Please send all dues collected to the Association office as soon as they are collected. Your unit does not have to be 100% before you submit your collections. Keep a copy of your roster so you can continue the dues collection process while those sent forward are being assigned membership cards. Remember, that we're all in this together working for a common goal for you.
